Instrument not working with your PC? Flag it. Most fixes ship in 2 hours.
A reading off by a factor of a hundred, a mode the scope refuses, a power supply that ignores its setpoint. With most instrument software you file a ticket and wait for next year’s release. In BenchMesh you press Report a problem on the instrument’s panel, and the fix comes back as an update the same afternoon.

Flagged
You press Report a problem on the instrument’s panel. Every BenchMesh shows the model as Issue reported at once.
T+0:05
Diagnosed
The report carries a read-back of every setting the instrument answers, the identify reply and the wire log - enough to reproduce it.
T+0:45
Fix built
The instrument’s definition is corrected and checked against recorded transcripts of real instruments.
T+1:20
Approved
A maintainer reviews the change and signs off the release. Nothing ships without it.

Delivered
Every BenchMesh shows Fix available and updates itself in a click. You get an e-mail that your report is resolved.
Why hours, not months
BenchMesh has no driver per instrument. Every power supply, multimeter, oscilloscope, electronic load, signal generator, LCR meter and spectrum analyzer is described by a short definition - its SCPI or serial commands, ranges, modes and replies - and one generic driver reads it.
So most problems are one wrong line in one definition, and the report already holds the evidence: the identify reply, a read-back of every setting the instrument answers, and the wire log of what went to the instrument and what came back. Finding the line is quick; checking the fix against recorded transcripts of real instruments is automatic; a maintainer approves every release.
Fixed in hours
- A reading that is wrong, scaled or shows in the wrong unit
- A setting that does not take, or comes back different
- A range, mode or function missing from the panel
- A command the instrument refuses or answers in an unexpected format
- A model of a supported family that is not recognised
- Polling that stalls, times out or leaves the instrument busy
Takes longer
- A new instrument family, with no definition yet
- A fault in the instrument’s own firmware or hardware
- Problems with the computer’s drivers, cables or adapters (the docs help there)

Questions
- What is QuickFix?
- QuickFix is how BenchMesh fixes instrument problems: you flag the instrument from its panel in the app, the report goes to the fix pipeline, and the fix comes back as an app update. Most instrument issues are fixed and delivered within 2 hours.
- Why can most problems be fixed so fast?
- BenchMesh has no per-instrument code. Every instrument is described by a declarative definition - its commands, ranges and replies - read by one generic driver. Most problems are a wrong line in a definition, and the report already holds the evidence to find it.
- What does a report send?
- The instrument’s model and identify reply, a read-back of every setting it answers, the recent wire log of that instrument (what was sent and received), the app version and your description. No recordings, flows or files from your computer.
- Do I need an account?
- A free benchmesh.online account, linked to the app once (sign in with GitHub, Google, Microsoft or a link by e-mail). It lets us tell you when the fix is out. Using BenchMesh itself needs no account.
- Is a fix tested before it ships?
- Every change is checked against recorded transcripts of real instruments, and a maintainer approves every release. Your report also re-runs against the fixed definition before it is closed.
- Does it work on a Mac?
- Reporting does. Releases are built without macOS until December 2026, so on a Mac the fix arrives with the next Mac release.
- My instrument is not supported at all. Can I still flag it?
- Flag it if it is in the instrument list: the definition may simply be missing your model. A new instrument family takes longer than a QuickFix - open an issue on GitHub and say which instrument you have.
