GW Instek GDS-1054B software

Remote control and data logging for the GW Instek GDS-1054B oscilloscope, on Windows, Linux and macOS - with the same panel BenchMesh uses for every oscilloscope.

Awaiting confirmation

Status

Very likely. Support for the GW Instek GDS-1054B was written from GW Instek’s programming manual and follows the same engine as the bench-tested instruments, but nobody has confirmed it on a real GDS-1054B yet. If you own one, connecting it once and reporting the result moves it to Community-confirmed.

115200 baud, 8N1. Plug in the USB cable (or a USB-RS-232 adapter); BenchMesh finds the port.
LAN (SCPI socket)
TCP port 3000. Enter the instrument’s IP address.

Notes

  • To confirm on first contactThe socket server has no default port in the guide: give host:port when adding it.

Questions

Does BenchMesh work with the GW Instek GDS-1054B?
Very likely. Support for the GW Instek GDS-1054B was written from GW Instek’s programming manual and follows the same engine as the bench-tested instruments, but nobody has confirmed it on a real GDS-1054B yet. If you own one, connecting it once and reporting the result moves it to Community-confirmed.
How do I connect the GDS-1054B to my PC?
Over USB-serial / RS-232 or LAN (SCPI socket). 115200 baud, 8N1. Plug in the USB cable (or a USB-RS-232 adapter); BenchMesh finds the port. Then press Detect in BenchMesh: it identifies the oscilloscope by its reply and adds it to the bench.
What can I control on the GDS-1054B?
Oscilloscope: set acquire type, bwlimit, coupling, display, invert, offset, probe, run; read acq type, bwlimit, coupling, display, freq, invert, offset, probe.
Can I log GDS-1054B measurements to CSV?
Yes. Right-click any reading to add it to a recording; every instrument on the bench is sampled on one shared timeline and exported as one CSV.
Is BenchMesh free?
Yes. BenchMesh is free and open source, for Windows, Linux and macOS, and works offline.
